California Could Become First State To Adopt Heatwave Ranking System

There are systems for hurricanes and tornadoes and now California is looking to become the first state in the country to rank heatwaves. The ranking system would have three different heatwave categories, with one being the least dangerous and three would be the most dangerous. They'd be based on both the heat intensity and health effects. The system would include guidance on what the public should do during a heatwave and could include plans to suspend power outages allowing people to turn on those ACs and send search and rescue teams to do welfare checks on the most vulnerable in our community.
